The 2020 Lambs have Arrived
My focus in the last few years has been with the Teeswater sheep, and ancient breed from Teesdale, England. I have gained such an appreciation for these sheep & the crosses they product. I find them to be calm, great mothers and produce wonderful fiber. The lambs that my registered Teeswater ram, Rhody has produced are outstanding. This season, Rhody & the ewes have produces twelve lambs!! 5 sets of twins & 2 singles. The lambs are learning to play with each other, enjoy

Knitting with Nancy - Lett Lopi Vest
There are a few great things about this Lett Lopi vest I am currently working on. First - the colored yarn is from wool from our own Teeswater X lambs, is 3 ply and is processed by Battenkill Fibers in NY. Second - the natural brown yarn is from our sheep and hand-spun by me. Third - I hand-dyed the Turquoise and Coral yarns. I am just starting the hand dying color work & loving it! The colors are SO vibrant. Finally - this pattern is a classic way to show off the colors.

The Cousins Meet - Lambs 2020
It has been a busy few days here with the arrival of 7 lambs – 3 sets of twins and 1 single. My registered Teeswater ewe Cailin delivered the 1st set of twins. Caroline, a first time mom, also delivered twins – one of the births my husband witnessed and actually cleared one of the lamb’s nose off so he could breathe readily. Nora, a favorite of hand spinners, delivered the 3rd set of twins and her daughter, Bo-ann followed with a little ram. Both Sinead and Beatrice are keepi

Welcome Calico Jack!
Caroline’s twin boys are thriving. The markings on Calico Jack were a complete surprise. The Teeswater crosses are typically white with black on their noses and around their eyes, ears & legs. These lambs are 75% Teeswater & 25% Corriedale. They are healthy, hungry and great cuddlers. Caroline is also doing well. It can be such a stressful period of waiting and brings such joy when the lambs arrive and everyone is healthy! I could watch these twins all day.

Preparing for Lambing Season 2020
The lambing pens are set up & bedded with a layer of shavings topped with a thick layer of straw. Sinead, Cailin and Caroline are all looking very pregnant & I feel there will be lambs in the next few days. Today, I noted that Cailin, a registered Teeswater ewe, was spending a lot of time by herself, laying down in the barn. She is a good girl & usually very cooperative. I easily haltered her at feeding time & with a handful of grain enticed her to follow me, placing her i

2020 Teased by Spring
We have been teased by spring for several weeks now. Finishing my barn chores up in my least favorite weather – raining and 40 degrees, makes me long for spring to arrive for real. My lambs will begin arriving after April 7th. The ewes were sheared last week – gorgeous fleeces! They received their yearly vaccine & a deworming and their feet were trimmed. They are ready! Without their fleeces I am better able to monitor them and usually determine if they are close to lambi
