

Roving has arrived!!!!
Fleeces from several members of the flock - Nora, Caroline, Edna, Sophie, Eva & Seamus - were sent to Battenkill Fibers several months ago & are finally here! Absolutely gorgeous! Quality fleeces that have luster & good staple length & are beautifully processed have made this roving so exceptional I cannot decide which to spin first!

In considering what fleeces to use for the woven blankets I looked at staple length or how long the wool is, luster, texture, & color. Two of my natural colored ewes, Sinead & Darby, have fleeces that have turned more grey in color over time. Their fleeces are of similar length, though Sinead has more curl or crimp. I needed a contrasting color - white, & chose Bo-ann's fleece, which is long, lustrous & has a wonderful crimp. These girls sure know how to produce outstanding

BLANKETS are coming!!
After much thought & consideration, I have decided to have woven blankets made. I have carefully selected fleeces from the flock for these functional works of art. Darby, our wonderful Romney ewe whose fleece seems to become more beautiful each year. Sinead, the leader, a Romney X Borderleicester.
